Legal drinking age in America?

If I go to America, Will I have to be 21 before Im legally able to drink? or will I able be able to drink because the legal age in the UK is 18.

Ill be 20 when I go.

  1. There is no nationwide drinking age in the US. Drinking age laws are State specific.

    In all States it is necessary to be 21 to buy alcohol, or to consume it other than with your own parents. Beyond that, the laws vary by State. In a few States it's illegal for an under 21 to drink anywhere. In many, an under 21 can drink in their OWN home with their parents presence or consent. Other than that there are all sorts of State variations. In New York, for example, a parent can pour a glass of wine or beer for their own under 21 in a restaurant, but they can't pour their own, or have any in a bar.
