Legal fees for house purchase in Italy?

I am an Irish citizen resident in Italy (for many years) buying a house with a value of 100,000 Euro in the south of Italy (near Ancona). What should I expect to pay in legal fees to the notaio, real estate agency et al? How are their fees calculated? Thanks very much

  1. As Martox says, it is complicated. Presumably your language skills are OK? If not (like ourselves - we're polite but couldn't navigate through the minefield of property law here), get in contact with an English-speaking agency. We used:

  2. It's a difficult question. If you are resident in Italy (like I'm) you should know that here laws and rules are changing very often.

    I think that you should contact more than a notary and ask him for an estimate of his expenses.As to the commission to the estate agency it is varying depending on the value of the house,it's average around 2-3% but can be also 5%.You should agree in advance with him the rate of his commission. Then you have to pay the registration tax that's the 3% if it's yr first house otherwise is the 7%.

    However I feel you should have got more proper answers if you had posted yr question on the Italian sector in Italian language (you should know Italian if you're resident form many years...).-
