Would it be legal for a 15 yer old ( that's still living at home ) to move out and go and live with her 20 year old brother and his 17 year old ( pregnant ) girlfriend if her parents gave her permission. Or is the brother too young because in adoption the person that adopts has to be about at least 10 years older so would the same rule apply in this situation ?

  1. Your brother is legally of age to take you in.

  2. Yep as long as you have youre parents permission youre fine

  3. I am no lawyer, but as long as your parents say it's ok.  Then do it.

Call a lawyer and just ask for free advice.

  4. I would go to a lawyer and have your brother gain sole custody of you. If your parents decide to change their mind about you living with your brother, and you find that living with him is more suitable for you, you could end up in a rather large fight with your parents. They could call you in as a runaway, and as a minor you could get in to some trouble with the law. And as far as runaways go you could be sent to a juvenile's detention center at the worst.  By your brother gaining sole custody of you, you will not run into those problems.

And if you can't get your parents to give up custody, then write up a legal document find a witness and sign the document saying that your parents give you permission to live with your brother as long as you want or it is safe for you to live there. Give it to a lawyer. This could be easier and show that you have show that you have really thought this through.
