alright, so i got a dui and because of the circumstances, the judge decided to omit the BAC(.135) and charge me with less safe, which is a 6 month penalty. Some clerk was typing it up after or something, and wrote in the BAC and that BAC implies a 12 month suspension... I was 16 years old at the time and im wondering what i should do to get this fixed, the judge said 6 and im getting 12.. wtf

  1. Take the 12 months. You committed a crime (DUI), and not driving for 12 months is a very, very light sentence.

Next time, if you have been drinking, don't drive. The sentence could (and probably will with a prior), be much, much worse.

  2. write a letter to the court, and see if the judge can't fix it.  You act like you don't deserve a 12 month suspension.  If during your little drive under the influence, if you had taken someone's life, do you believe you would have deserved a 12 month suspension?

  3. Call the clerk of courts, let he/she know your situation.  Just make sure you know the name of your judge so he can review the official charges with the clerk.  They will correct everything as needed. Everything should be fine after a few phone calls.
