Legal question on ahold on a bank account?

My sister in-law has a bank acc. and her grand sons name is on the acc.Recently He was in a serious accident and was in intensive care for several weeks. The hospital put a hold on this acc.and She has no access to these funds. What does she need to do? These funds are her life savings

   She needs to speak to an elder care attorney and see if there is anything he can do to help her.  In all likelihood, she has lost these funds.  This is one of the dangers of putting someone else's name on your account.  What she needed to do was remove his name before the hospital got to it.  Now, it may very well be too late.
