In QLD AUSTRALIA how are the senators chosen?

Also, what would happen if the lower house (house of representatives) passed a new law, and then it reached the upper house (senate) and they did NOT pass the new law. does there have to be a certain percentage for the senate's vote to overrule the house of representative's??
