Legalities of adopting overseas children and bringing them into Australia. Any help will do!?

I am thinking about adopting my cousins so that i may bring them to Australia, this is all with the consent of my Aunt, however i am finding it difficult to find the information i need. If anyone can tell me where i can find some info or if they have done this and have any pointers on how to even start the paperwork i would be very greatful

  1. I do not know if this can be done - or the process involved.

    You would be best to check with your state government department on the process involved etc. (ie - DOCS - or - Dept of Community Services).

    For example - in NSW - this link has contact details.

    (to get the above - I googled 'adoption NSW' - and the link came up)

    Adoptions in Australia are handled by the state government of each state - and they can advise you of the process involved.

    Call them - and explain your situation - and they will tell you what is allowed etc.

    ETA: So their parents are still alive then??

    Then I think you should try to help the whole family move.

    Sponsor them - or something like that.

    If they are family - I'm sure that would help.

    It would be horrible to seperate the children from the parents.

    I've lived it - it's not a fairy tale - no matter the reason.

    Get in touch with the Immigration department.


  2. Where are your cousins ? and why would you want to separate them from their mother ? how old are your cousins
