Question:

Legalities on Cell Phone?

I've been having trouble with my cell phone turning off on it's own, screen freezing, etc. I've taken it to have it looked at twice and all they say is that "LG (cell phone maker) knows about the problem and haven't come up with a way to fix it yet. We'll let you know when they do". Okay, but my cell phone is my tie to my JOB. I cannot work effectively with a phone that does what it pleases. Anyone know what my options might be? I need an appropriate working cell phone, but really don't feel like I should be the one to cough up $400 for a new one when it is "their" fault it doesn't work to being with!

  1. I would let whomever I work for buy me a new phone.  Unless you are self-employed.  Look @ your warranty, Consider breaking your contract.  Explain to whomever you bought it from that if you can't use it, you consider the contract void.

  2. contact your carrier, & explain to them that this unacceptable, the problem is phones come with a 1 year manufacturers warranty, you might be passed this. You could get a cheap phone from your carrier, until your contract is up. Take it to store & discuss options with store salesman!!!!!

  3. Usually, if you cause enough fuss and are relentless, the cell phone provider may replace your phone.  DO NOT get another LG though, I have heard terrible things about every product and appliance they make.  Nothing works correctly, and it's always a real ***** trying to get them to fix it.

  4. Do you work with a company or are you self employed?  If you have an employer tell them that your phone is not working and it is hindering your efficiency as a worker.  Then they should replace the phone for you.  I know that is how it works at my company.  If you are self employed then you are stuck because cell phone companies will not do anything for you.  You are stuck in the contract whether or not your phone works.

Also, if your company does not pay for your phone then why is it your "tie" to your job.  If it is that important for your work life then the company should be the one you talk to.  Hope this helps.
