  1. Remember if you have a wreck in Mexico it is a criminal offense not a civil offense. Why would you want to take a vehicle into Mexico or even go to Mexico with all the murders & kidnappings going on?

  2. anything is legal in mexico itsn a slum country do you think they have standards?

  3. by legalizing i assume u mean get mexican license plates and registration,if u live there its good to go this route, but if u stay for less than 6 months at time its cheaper to just get a permit at the customs office at the border, mexico is currently accepting cars from 97 on down next year is 98 and so forth

  4. you can do it in laredo its american cars 92 to 97 the cost depends on the car if its 4 wheel drive ect it will be between 500 and 1000 $  as far as i know there is no limit you have to be a mexican citizen and you need the title of the car i did one a month ago and i waited 6 hours in line there is many different agencies to do this for you

  5. My husband asked around about this once because his parents were talking about retiring in Baja and they wanted to bring their car.  I'm pretty sure he found out that you have to import your car into Mexico if you want to register it there with Mexican plates and keep it there full time.

I'm not 100% positive about this though, so I recommend that you call the company we have used for the past few years to get our mexican insurance for road trips and ask them.  It's called baja bound.  I'll post a link to their site below.  They've always given us solid information in the past, I hope it will be that way for you too.  Good luck!
