I'm currently undergoing IVF treatment. I'm 32. I'm hoping to use my eggs but there is a chance that I would be able to. My sister wants us to use her eggs. My parents are urging us to do it., but I wanted to know is there an age minimum.

  1. I want you to read this book its called baby proof.. its about doing that.... GL

  2. My wife is an egg donor, and it is about a 20 page contract.  My hunch is no, since, generally, minors cannot enter into binding contracts (there is a public policy exception for adoption).  There is a lot of paperwork involved in contracting an egg donor, most of which would require someone of legal age to consent to.

On the bright side, you can get the ball rolling now.  It took a long time for my wife to get done with the psychological and physical exams to make sure that she is a suitable candidate.

  3. the hospital might know more..... or you could wait till she's 18 which can't be that far off

  4. I think she has to be at least 18 due to the fact that she is still considered a child by law

  5. I agree with Mrs. Crawfish.  This is a lot to ask of a minor.  It's not like donating a kidney.  This would be a child that she will know for the rest of her life.  At the very least, she should receive counseling by someone OUTSIDE of the family who can be objective and guide her to make the right decision for herself.

As for legality, you would have to check with the laws for your state.  She may be legally considered a minor in your state and if that's the case, probably couldn't do it.

    Good luck.

  6. Hmm good q don't know but i'd asume its like ne other donation/transplant if all are willing i say its a go sorry can't help much maybe call a lawyer who does pro bono to ask good luck concieving and baby dust

  7. i am sorry but she has to be 18

  8. There is no law against it, but I think that is a lot for an underage child to agree to. She is not only going through a huge medical proceedure, she is in essence giving up what could be considered her child. I understand that girls make these decisions everyday through adoption, but they do receive counseling. I know that ALL fertility clinics require full  counseling and testing for egg donors. This might also be a good idea for your sister also. I don't think that 17-18 is going to be some sort of magical age that she now can donate eggs, I just think that the same precautions should be taken as if you were using an unknown donor. I would also have her go to a lot of your fertility appts so she understands the process fully. Good luck.

  9. its probably 18...although you have to be 21 to donate eggs in NY..idk about your state

  10. How about just wait till she's 18? At the most, it's only a 12 month wait.
