Legend of emptying sea with bucket or ladle

This is either a Greek or Latin Legend about a punishment/task to empty sea with a bucket or ladle....I need the name of the person affected?

  1. the only thing I can think of here is an old greek tale about a king who bet a man he could not empty a (oh whats the name) horn you drink from...in 3 draughts, the man took the bet, but at the end of his 3rd drink it was still not empty, then he was informed that the end of it was magically placed into the oceans of the world, and he emptied most of the lakes and rivers with his 3 drinks, sadly though I cannot recall any names, it was so long ago when i read it, but thats all that comes to mind, sorry~

    It was in the same book as Damacles sword, you remember that one, where the man said he would love to be king, and the king granted him his wish, but the only drawback was a sword was to hang over his head by only a single hair of a horse tail the entire time to show him the fear the king had to live under~
