Legendary Times to bag the Kilkenny Handicap (Division I) at Gowran Park on 12th April
Gowran Park will host the Kilkenny Handicap (Division I) over a mile on Thursday, 12th April. Sixteen four-year and older thoroughbreds are contesting for the race that carries the €3,850 purse.
The most convincing entry for the race is Legendary Times, Chevalier’s six-year-old bay mare out of mare, Better Look, as she was entered as the favourite in her seasonal debut lately with a third ranking under her belt.
On 7th April, Legendary Times, the 5/1 favourite of the race, ended third in the Mallow.IE Apprentice Handicap at Cork over a mile and half a furlong while the race was won by Night Singer who was riding with J. Brennan.
The runner up of the race, Invincible Don, finished at the disadvantage of 2 ¼ length.
The last time that she won a race was in the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap on 10th August 2011 at Gowran Park over a mile and one and a half furlong. She took charge of the final two and a half lengths while riding with J. Benson.
Finishing the closest to the winner was Fairy Wing while striding on for the third position behind the winner was Moving Statue. The 100/30 favourite of the race, Cool Athlete, ended fifth on the line-up of seventeen.
Five races after that victory have been failures and it is high time now that she gets a win recorded on her profile. If she could win over a mile and one and a half furlongs before at Gowran Park then today the distance to be raced over has been brought
down to just a mile.
Another entry who needs to put in sincere effort for finally bagging a win is Naked Cowboy, Statue Of Liberty’s five-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Milly’s Song. He has raced through the new season four times already and has failed in all the ventures.
He scored second, ended fourth, met a dreadful thirteenth position and then landed sixth in the most recent race.
Naked Cowboy missed the Dundalk Stadium Handicap (Division II) by 1 ¼ lengths on 27th January at Dundalk over a mile and two and a half furlongs and qualified as the runner up. The race was won by Blue Cross Boy.
Finishing the race third was Chebona Bula.
