The Indian Batting maestro, Sachin Tendulkar, was recently praised by two legendary cricketing figures, namely, West Indian batsman Brian Lara, and former English skipper, Alec http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stewart-c91370, in the charity dinner held on July 18, 2011, in London.
The charity dinner was co-organized by the Indian skipper, Dhoni, who had partnered with Rajashree Birla of ‘Aditya Birla Group’ to raise funds for his foundation.
Many celebrities graced the occasion, including the legendary Lara and sensational Stewart, who ranked Tendulkar as the most superior batsman in the world of cricket.
In the panel discussion of the event, at Hilton hotel on Monday, Lara said, “http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 started playing (Test cricket) at the age of 16. And at 38 now, we have not seen a better player. Sachin is the best batsman in the world; I am going to
the Lord’s to see Sachin make his 100th century.”
This was a huge honour for the Little Master, as Lara, who himself is highly ranked in the field, declared him the best batsman of the world. The praise did not end here as former English captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alec-James-Stewart-c43081, backed Lara and compared
Sachin with Sir Bradman of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
Stewart said, ‘Tendulkar is the modern day Don Bradman”. This was a big day for Tendulkar who heard some confidence-boosting comments about himself, ahead of the big event on July 21, 2011.
The first Test of the series against England is a landmark in the history of cricket. It is 100th Test between the two contending nations and 2000th Test of the cricket history. It may get Tendulkar his 100th
century, which will be his first at Lord’s.
Therefore, the Lord’s test has great significance and every player is excited to be a part of it. Indian captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 had said that he is fortunate to lead the team in such a historic event and would definitely try to defend their position
as the top Test team of the world.
The other highly appreciated batsman was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Dravid-c2229 who called Sachin one of the Indian gods.
Lara stated, “While Sachin is special, Dravid is the wall.” Alec Stewart also called Dravid a “great player”. Stewart pointed out that Dravid is technically gifted and will always be remembered by the cricket world.
Although the Indian batsmen were highly praised by the two former cricketers, Alec Stewart declared the English team as the hot-favorite for the series. He predicted that England will remain triumphant by 2-1 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
Earlier, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shane-Keith-Warne-c89672 of Australia had also favoured England and predicted them to win 1-0 over India.
