Highly gifted, immensely talented, full of flair and technical ability; Batistuta made a career out of what he loved, and developed on to become a legend in the end.
Not every player gets the recognition of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Omar-c28540 Batistuta, one knew that the whole world would be listening to his every word. Maradona went on to state that Batistuta was by far
the best striker he had ever seen grace the world of football.
The Argentinean was born to slaughterhouse employee, Omar Batistuta, and a school clerk, Gloria Zilli; on the 1st of February in the Reconquista, in the province of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santa-Fe-c40443, Argentina. In a country where football was and is still played religiously
amongst the young, going on to the international stage and developing a career is a path treaded by a small percentage.
He was not inducted into footballing academies at the tender age of nine or ten like the other footballing greats were inducted; case in point would be http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Del-Piero-c4726; but he joined the Newell’s Old Boys academy in 1987, however,
after a year he was inducted into the senior team. He performed with great promise and was snapped up by Argentinean powerhouses http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 and was picked
up by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Boca-Juniors-c38658, for whom he flourished and started showing his true potential.
This potential paved his way for Fiorentina, for whom he managed to play a long time. Nearly a decade, and made more than 250 appearances in the Serie A for the Florence based outfit. He is part of the prestigious group which includes the top ten all time
top scorers of the Serie A, having scored a mammoth number of goals, 184 in 318 matches, which is an exceptional record.
His record for the Artemio Franchi outfit was exceptional and he scored on 168 occasions in 269 matches. This is an exceptional record to have, and after his move away to AS Roma from Fiorentina, the forward kept his mean streak of striking and was able
to perform to the best of his abilities without being prone to any major injuries.
For a player of Batistuta’s calibre, his club records were amazing, however, it was missing a trophy, and he sought to change clubs to make that happen as well. However, he was persuaded by the Fiorentina management to remain at the club, but after failure
to secure the Scudetto, Batistuta moved on to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603, to play for AS Roma.
His move to AS Roma meant that the player had a positive chance to go for the Scudetto, and under the management of a young http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello, he was able to do just that. He went on to score 20 goals for the Roma outfit in their Scudetto winning season.
After brief stints with Internazionale and in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Qatar-c2986, the Argentinean felt the time had come to call it a time to his long and illustrious career. He is the all time top scorer for Fiorentina, and it is unlikely that his record would be breached anytime soon.
He is also in the list of FIFA 100, a list of all the greatest living footballers, compiled by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pele-c40189.
