Legg Mason Tennis Classic receives a grant from the ATP ACES for Charity programme – Tennis News
The Legg Mason Tennis Classic received a $10,000 grant from the ATP ACES for Charity programme. ATP’s top heads were present in the presentation ceremony to grant this generous donation. Bryan Brothers and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi
were also granted donations of similar amount for their respective charitable causes on Tuesday.
The Legg Mason Tennis Classic is an ATP World Tour 500 series event annually held on the hard courts of the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Washington, D.C., USA, from July 30 through August 7. Tournament’s director Jeff
Newman said: "Our event was founded on the premise of giving back to the community and at-risk youth. We are delighted that in their first year, the ATP ACES for Charity Program could support our cause."
The beneficiary programme of this ATP tournament includes an Arthur Ashe Children’s Programme which serves 1500 children annually. Its main purpose is to focus on the children from the lower-income families and help improve their
academic performance, confidence, athletic and indulge them in activities which teach discipline.
The Association of Tennis Professionals will grant donations through ATP ACES for Charity Programme to twelve recipients this year which includes The Rafa Nadal Foundation, the Bryan Brothers Foundation, the Haq Foundation, the
Japan Tennis Association’s earthquake relief fund and many organisations which look upon the health of children in Memphis and Bucharest. Some other funds which look after the natural disasters in Japan and Pakistan are also funded through this scheme.
ATP Executive Chairman and President Adam Helfant and ATP CEO Mark V. Young personally donated $10,000 to this Washington held tennis tournament’s programme. They also granted $10,000 to Bob and Mike Bryans and to Aisam-ul-Haq
Qureshi for their respective charitable endeavours.
The Bryan Brothers Foundation which supports and develops the dream of children in Ventura County, California and in other parts of the world as well.
Aisam-ul-Haq’s Haq Foundation looks after several relief funds and charitable projects in the disaster hit areas of Pakistan. It helps re-build houses and basic communication centres in these areas.
Legg Mason Tennis Classic serves 1500 children annually. They improve the life aspects of the youths from the lower income communities.
