I would like to know about the Mexican peso and what the symbols represent... I am very curious about the 100 peso with Nezahualcoyotl

Is there a Mexican treasury website that talks about the symbols?

Thanks

  1. Well the mexican peso has changed a lot, it is not like the dollar, there is a mexcan treasury website, but it is in spanish,

the link bellow point to a page where you can see the evolution of the mexican peso thru the history.

    http://www.banxico.org.mx/billetesymoned...

As for the 100 pesos bill, it is interesting, there is in fact a very small poem printed on it, my understanding is that this poem was written by Nezahualcoyotl , you can take a look at it in this page:

    http://mexico.group.stumbleupon.com/foru...

And more poems from Nezahualcoyotl  can be found:

Finally you can learn more about Nezahualcoyotl in wikipedia:

    http://www.banxico.org.mx/billetesymoned...

So as I mentioned before the mexican peso has changed a lot and the symbols you can find on it are related to the mexican history, you can find refernces to former presidents, emblematic mexican cities and to people that are important to us (mexicans)

  2. Yes, there is a good site to know more about mexican bills, the "Banco de México" website. But, you should be able to read spanish. This is the link to "History of mexican bills":
