Question:

Legitimate reasons for getting texting?

I need some legitimate reasons for convincing my mom that I need texting. I have already had it, but went over too often so it was disabled. I would like to get it back and need to provide a good arguement to back up my wanting to get it back. Thanks.

(And no, I can't get unlimited)

  1. Instead of being loud and noisy and talking all the time, you could simply just type a message!

If you're in school or somewhere and you feel horrible and they won't let you call your parents or something, text your parents.

If you have to go to a quiet place and can't talk but need to notify your parents of something important you could text them..

Much more reasons, I hope this helped you.

  2. To build up your finger muscles

...& so you can maintain a nice stressful edge

    .

  3. The only need for texting that I can think of is for work.

I am in computers. I used texting as a pager for a while. My computers would page me when they needed attention.

You obviously don't have a job if your mom is paying for your phone. So there's absolutely no need for you to have texting at all. Texting is a WANT. Not a NEED.

  4. First, you need to convince her that you can text quickly.  Often, older people overlook the ease of which we can use technology when they can't.  So you have to convince her that you can text extremely quickly.

Next, you need to offer her examples of times when it was useful.  For example, if you were in the movie theater and you needed to text someone for a ride or for a time sensitive issue.  There's a lot of times when it would be inappropriate to call someone, even just to leave a message.

Also, convince her that texting is NOT rude.  A lot of older people see younger people texting and think it's really rude and stupid.  You need to convince your mom that it is not rude to text.  In fact, texting prevents situations in which you would be rude by having to call someone.

Offer her benefits.  Tell her that it will make it easier for you to contact her and that you'll be able to do it more often.  Don't make promises, but try to hint that texting equals enhanced communication, not just fun.

Since you can't get unlimited anyway, you can anchor this to your benefit.  Tell her you don't need unlimited anyway because why would you need over 250 texts just to tell people simple important messages?  Even if this is not true, it's worth a shot.

Hope at least some of these ideas seem reasonable :)

  5. Well I would say that it provides an easy way to get in touch if some1 is occupied with another activity where they could normally not answer. Also if you know that someone cannot talk, you can send them a quick txt and they will be able to read and respond ASAP. It's much easier to notice a new txt than a voicemail.

I no you said you cant get unlimited (I couldn't either), but after a month I was able to get my parents to c that 500 txts isnt much and for 20 bucks you can get unlimited for like 4 phones on a plan together.

  6. well i have it and i think you are nuts for wanting it but know the reason so you can look at it in class and do this sintead of studying. its quiet and you can do this with out anyone knowing what is goin on so therefore i wouldn't give it to you. i hate it cause its very hard to do and therefore i would just stop it.

  7. grow up and pay for it yourself??? anyways things like are you here yet, or what time does such and such a thing happen. anything that is so short that its not worth a call

  8. As a child,  you have rights and privileges.

Rights are something that cannot be take away from you.  Privileges can be taken away.  It is not your mom's responsibility to give you text messages. It is a privilege for my daughter to have a cell phone.  If she acts up,  then I have a right to take the phone away or change her plan.

Just feel lucky that you still have a phone.

  9. I would use the popular, never-fail, axe murderer excuse.

Let's say a man breaks into your house with cruel intentions and you can't talk for fear of death.. so you must text. ;)

  10. Tell her you realized you werent being responsible and if she says no in the end you do understand but you really would like another chance because you would like texting and you want to show her you can be responsible. The benefits are it saves you from using your minutes, sometimes people go out and invite people only through text and you dont want to be left out etc etc..
