Question:

Legitimate way of acquiring a nobility title?

I know titles of nobility cannot be bought, but some people are offering titles by marriage (in exchange for money, citizenships, etc). Can these titles be considered official and legal? If, for instance, I pay the 'german count' who many people mention and marry a noble, would I really have a right to his titles?

Has anyone here recently used the services of a title broker? What was your experience like?

  1. You have got to be kidding!

  2. OK some European families have stop giving out noble titles. But you can't buy a title. These so called site you have seen are fake. Theses titles are not Worth the paper they written on. Now some people have got adopted so they could get a title mostly Germans. But again they are private matters and not recognizes by the states of that country. No one really sells their titles they pass down the male line. A royal letter patent was wrote granting that partiular family that title. For example Zsa Zsa Gabor last husband the so called Prince Fredick got his title by been adopted by a German Princess. He even sells titles. But he a laughing stock here in Europe. So how you going to explain to people if you bought a title? And who going to recognize it? The state won't so you can't put it on your passport. Since the USA Consitution states that title are banned in the USA. I have to been honest here it mostly Americans who love all this stuff. Remember just because you get a title doesn't mean you got breeding or class.

  3. There are a couple of quirky little titles that go with certain land ownership or can be purchased. I've met one man, who by right of the title he purchased (he's a retired bus driver in England) gets to hold Charles' right hand and glove during the Coronation. That's provided he lives long enough - he's not young.

Mostly these titles are considered a joke and gauche. It's just not done. You would never be accepted in society as anything but a fool. In fact, you would have less chance of being invited anywhere. Your purchased title would not be recognized in the country it came from or anywhere else.

And to clarify, having a title doesn't necessarily make you royalty. Lots of people mistake nobility for royal. Big difference.

Now, if you married a titled man, you would get a title. Heather Mills became Lady Heather because she was married - briefly - to Sir Paul McCarthy. However, it doesn't work in reverse. Had he married a Lady, he wouldn't become a Sir or Knight.

  4. You CAN buy yourself a title actually.Basically, for buying certain land plots (this can be as little as a square foot) you can acquire a title like lord lady etc. only ever heard about this in scotland tho, not here in england.
