ok so there is this g*y *** elective for Middle school this year called "Lego Club" and i have been told that what you basically do in it is play with pastic blocks for 45 miniutes straight and you'll get an A on your report card. I THINK THIS IS UNFAIR!!!! IM STUCK WITH WOODSHOP WHICH IS 5x MORE DANGEROUS AND HARDER WHILE SOME KIDS ARE PLAYING WITH BLOCKS FOR AN HOUR!!! GIVE ME YOUR OPINION ON THIS AND HAS THIS EVER HAPPENED IN YOUR MIDDLE SCHOOL

  1. I would have LOVED to have taken that class.

Lego is one of those toys were people really underestimate its learning value. For starters its great for increasing problem solving skills, developing fine and gross motor skills and endless development of creativity.

We had simular issues in my school - the electives were mechanical engineering drafting, which was drawing and graphing out designs for all kinds of everyday items or food services which was cooking and baking and working the in the school's restaurant... well didn't 90% of the 1000 or so kids I started the year with signed up for FS and got stuck in MED which was the worst class I ever had in my life.

But those are the breaks.. we don't always get what we want.

  2. actually, my old middle school did something similar about 15 years ago, however for us they combined the class with wood shop and changed the name to Industrial Arts. The sets that we had to build were the technic sets that required wiring in the motors and actually having to build a fairly complicated machine. I remember that some of the sets were a working ferris wheel, a working carousel and a working conveyor belt. It was actually really cool.

  3. I wouldn't mind if they were pointed in some direction.

"Take your lego's and make a bust of ANY US president."

I have seen people do that and ti can be astounding, but if you are just farting about, then you are right; what a load of old socks

  4. I'M glad i didn't lose any thing in my shop class!

Lego's help you develop a taste for engineering

(What you would have taken next) sounds fun!
