Legrottaglie delighted to join Catania on a two year deal: Serie A news
Former A.C Milan and Juventus defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicola-Legrottaglie-c27757, is delighted to join Catania on a two year deal.
The 34-year-old was released by Milan after the 2010/11 season and he was in hunt for a new club since then. Legrottaglie joined the Rossoneri in the January transfer window but managed to make just a single appearance in his six
month stay at the San Siro.
Catania were linked with the former Bari star for the past few weeks and the defender himself was desperate to join the club. The former Italian international tied knots with Vincenzo Montella’s team only recently and is looking
forward to the new adventure. Legrottaglie is extremely thankful to the club President, Antonino Pulvirenti, and Sporting Director, Pietro Lo Monaco, for trusting him for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684.
The former Chievo Verona star admitted that had he not signed for the Rossazzurri, he would have retired from the game.
Talking to the reporters Legrottaglie said, “I’m happy with this new adventure and honoured to wear this shirt. I thank President Antonino Pulvirenti and director Pietro Lo Monaco who have shown that they respect me. I told Lo
Monaco that I would only sign for Catania because I had the desire to do something important.”

“Had that not been the case then I would have just retired. I have the right motivation to take Catania to a position which they deserve.”
Catania are looking to improve on their 13th position league finish from the previous season and Montella certainly wants to strengthen the defensive department. The defence was a real problem for Gli Elefanti in the
2010/11 season as they leaked too many goals. After the sale of their star defender, Matias Silvestre to Palermo, Catania wanted to replace the Argentine with Legrottaglie.
Legrottaglie has spent the most successful time of his playing career at Juventus, where he spent almost 8 years. The defender managed 114 appearances for the Turin giants and scored 8 goals too. He also has 16 Italian international
team appearances under his belt.
