Did anyone who ever took this med got the same side effects? I'm taking it to cure my psychosis (stress induced)... Is this a normal side effect? (I'm taking 15 mg a day).

  1. Restless leg syndrome (a form of akathisia) is a pretty common side effect of anti-psychotics. If you feel like you want to retain the medication in spite of these effects, perhaps your doctor could advise on how to best treat your symptoms.

Something that you might want to try first (so as to avoid complicating your "adverse reaction profile"), would be pain relievers, like acetametophren (there are also more potent pain relievers like opioids, but they are generally very constipating. If you are prescribed these, be sure to also request some colace). There are all kinds that could be catered to the severity of your pain. Muscle relaxants may also provide a bit of relief. Maybe these in addition to warm baths, cooling packs, relaxation techniques, as well as a good nights sleep since fatigue tends to worsen symptoms of RLS.

There are also more "heavy duty" medications which carry potential for even more side effects, but you could try these if your leg symptoms don't respond to other things. These drugs are generally used for Parkinson's disease. They reduce the amount of motion in your legs by affecting the level of dopamine in your brain. Some examples include Mirapex and Requip. I have no idea whether they would interact with the Abilify, but you could check at the pharmacy and through a drug interactions checker, on-line, if you wish.

    Best wishes to you :-)

  2. muscle rigidity from neuroleptic malignant syndrome(nms) is a rare occurrance.

But whatever the cause, if your  "psychosis'' is stress induced, try to reduce the stress so you do not need the stuff as it promotes diabetes.
