  1. Contact the “herpetologicalsocieties.com, for a turtle vet in your city and state.

  2. Try putting your tortoise on  a slippery patch of ground . Or else, try put it on a slope ( with its face upwards ) & see if it has trouble staying still or moving.

Does it have any trouble swimming?

  3. To the guy above me ..

    most Tortoises can't swim ..

I would take it to the vet

  4. Poor nutrition has paralyzed the poor guy...What do you feed him? Most tortoise are Herbivores and need a calcium supplement low in phosphorus, they only need meat about once every 2 to 3 weeks. You have most likely been feeding him wrong, take him to a vet and have him put down if he is suffering. Allot of people feed tortoises wrong, they think their diet is like turtles, but they are completely different. You tried to help him and give him a good home and that's all you can do. Good Luck.

  5. stiff joints in a tortoise often indicates metabolic bone disease, the joints become stiff and sometimes inflamed, i am not sure what tortoise you have but an incorrect diet can cause this, your tortoise is not getting enough calcium and UVB lighting, you need to feed your tortoise more calcium, you can either get a cuttle bone from a pet store or a good calcium supplement feed it to your tortoise sprinkled over food twicw a week for a month then drop it down to at least once a week, check any uv lighting to make sure it still works and replace it if necassary they only emit uv for about six months and after that it needs replacing, get your tortoise checked over by a reptile vet you may require a course of antibiotics to make sure it is not going into a respirtory infection, your tortoises legs may never get any better but you can stop it from getting worse, here is a site that you can look at to check you are feeding your tortoise a correct diet and the housing is correct,   http://www.tortoisetrust.org/, it is not too late to change things and with some  TLC you can stop your tortoise getting any worse best of luck honey.
