Jens Lehmann has suggested that he is fascinated by the idea of keeping for his country at the 2016 Paralympics in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858. He retired from the Germany team after the 2008 European Championships and club level in 2011, following
a short spell with former team http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429.
Nevertheless, the shot-stopper echoed his interest at making a surprise comeback in four years time with Die Mannschaft side in their five-a-side blind football team. The veteran goalkeeper said that he is pleased with the notion
and will play if he is physically fit. He also said that it is alright if he expressed his interest in the role.
"That's very interesting, providing I am fit to do so. In any case, it's okay to talk about it if you are interested," the ex-Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan custodian added.
The Paralympics have a clause that allows the goalie to be normal sighted provided that he stays in the penalty area and other four players have to wear blackout eyeshades to participate in the event.
Germany’s Paralympics team was unable to qualify for the 2012 event in London, but the manager is pleased with the interest shown by Lehmann and believes it will be special if the former star can join them in their cause in Brazil.
"If Jens Lehmann joined, that would be sensational," the coach Ulrich Pfisterer stated.
Disabled Sports Association (DBS) president Friedhelm Julius Beucher stressed that the former international’s representation will allow other retired custodians to play for their national disabled teams, as the goalie is not required
to have some kind of disability.
"A goalkeeper is not subject to the requirement that he must have some kind of disability," he said.
"Thus, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oliver-c28477 Kahn or any other retired goalkeeper, in theory, is available. We will now discuss this privately," he finally concluded.
