Leicester City snap up http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yakubu-Aiyegbeni-c37132 on a 6-month loan
28-year-old forward Yakubu Aiyegbeni has joined Championship side Leicester City on a 6-month loan term from Everton.
The club is hopeful of signing the player permanently in the summers and confirmed that both the clubs had agreed over the loan term.
The Nigerian has successfully passed the medical at Leicester and he would be eligible to play as soon as the FA passes the transfer. In his eight, first team appearances, for the club, this season, Yakubu has scored just once
against Stoke City.
"It means a lot to me to be joining Leicester City and to be given this chance. When I had the option to come here, I didn't think twice. The manager [Sven http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Goran-c15135 Eriksson] is one of the greats in football history and to work with
him presents a special opportunity for me," stated the 28-year-old.
Yakubu has not been able to settle at Everton since his arrival in 2007. Earlier, Yakubu played for Middlesbrough, where he managed to score 25 times in 73 appearances. The Nigerian needs to find back his form and finishing touch,
which is needed for a centre forward. Moreover, despite getting constant supplies from the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Pienaar-c34208, Yakubu has failed to convert chances. Now, Everton manager David Moyes has had enough of his misfiring strikers,
as both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Louis-Saha-c22459 and Yakubu have struggled to find form this season.
On the other hand, midfielder Tim Cahill, who is currently the top scorer for Everton, has been impressive. In his 19 appearances, Cahill has managed to score 9 times, whereas both Saha and Yakubu have scored just once.
Fun Fact:
Yakubu broke the heart of millions of African supporters when he missed a sitter against South Korea. Had he scored, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 failed to do in the summer. As a
result, the angry Nigerian supporters gave a new meaning to the word “Yakubu”, which means, “To utterly squander once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, especially one that will cause pain to/mourning among millions of people”.
