Leicester City will take Michael Rensing on trial
Leicester City has confirmed the club will be taking former Bayern Munich goalkeeper Michael Rensing on trial.
Rensing has not been able to find a new club since he left the German side in the summer. Leicester boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is thought to be very keen in getting the shot stopper signed up.
"He is coming here. It is only on trial and nothing is decided yet.
A lot of agents are ringing to ask if their players can come on trial," said Eriksson.
Rensing will be a fantastic signing for Leicester if he does make a permanent move to the club. However, there will be serious questions over the German's desire if he
does drop down a level to play Championship football in England.
An exciting move
This is an exciting move for Leicester because Rensing is a calibre of player that the club has not been able to attract in previous seasons. Eriksson has clearly used
all of his pulling power to get the player on trial when he is bound to have had other offers.
Rensing would add a lot of quality to the Leicester team. He always showed disciplined attributes during his time at Bayern Munich. He would be fantastic in keeping the
Leicester back four well organised during some intense Championship games.
The problem Leicester faces is convincing Rensing that the club is the right one for him. There will continue to be a flow of offers for the goalkeeper because he is a
high quality player who warrants a lot of attention.
Eriksson will also have to battle with fears from fans and one or two officials from within the club. This is because Rensing would demand a lucrative contract to sign.
This could be a bigger contract than anyone else at the club is on.
Betting advice
There is no doubt at all that the signature of Michael Rensing would have a huge impact on the club. Rensing would give the side a much better chance of conceding fewer
goals and losing fewer matches over the course of a long season.
