Leicester’s fast ground to favour Supaheart in Willoughby Handicap
It would be no surprise if Supaheart resumes her progress on Leicester’s fast ground, where she will be showing her talent in the Willoughby Handicap on Tuesday, September 04, 2012. Although the drop back from a mile is a concern, the stiff seven furlongs
would help the Hughie Morrison-trained unleash her best.
Owned by Sir Martyn Arbib, the 3-year-old has been unlucky since her fantastic victory at Wolverhampton in May. On Chepstow’s firm surface, she displayed an excellent show in July, when missing the gold medal just by a nose.
The 11-2 chance became a huge threat to the 5-2 favourite, Chosen Character, but just failed to overtake him in the dying moments.
After such an outstanding performance, she could not continue the good work and as a result, finished fourth in last month’s 32Red Fillies' Handicap at Chepstow. But nothing can be taken away from her, as the conditions were too testing last time.
Bred by Arbib Bloodstock Partnership, the bay filly likes hard surface, which is available at Leicester. So, one can expect her to bring things under control, and present a fascinating show in today’s 7f9y meeting.
On good to firm, 17 quality runners will pursue a cash prize worth £4,075. According to the current plan, the class 4 meeting will be kicked off at 14:30 GMT.
Konstantin deserves respect following a comprehensive triumph last time. The 4-year-old broke the shackles after a few terrible defeats early in the season.
The audience at Folkestone saw Marcus Tregoning’s trainee upsetting the 7-4 favourite, Maverik, by a neck’s distance to ensure the top rank. His confidence would be at a high after the first win of the season, thus it is hard to overlook his chances.
Another interesting contestant is First Class. Rae Guest’s charge recorded his third victory of the season at Doncaster last month. Springing up a surprise, the 5-1 chance outsmarted Hayek and Alkadi to win the Royal British Legion Poppy Handicap (Div I).
Both Konstantin and First Class are full of confidence after their respective wins, but the conditions are in favour of Supaheart, whose hundred percent effort will be enough to grab the first prize. Good luck to all the horses.
