Leicestershire 59/4 (10.0/20 ov) – Nottinghamshire won the toss and chose to field first
After playing ten overs in the ongoing Friends Life T20 match between Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire, the latter after winning the toss, invited Leicestershire to bat first on a seaming track at Grace Road, Leicester.
Leicestershire failed to get off to an impressive start in the 20-over game as they managed to post 59 runs in ten overs for the loss of four wickets as their top-order batsmen failed to rip apart Nottinghamshire’s bowling attack.
The demolition process began with the demise of the first wicket when Leicestershire had just 12 runs on the board. Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jon-Lewis-c1726 Cobb was the first casualty of the day as he had his stumps obliterated on a splendid delivery bowled by Nottinghamshire striker
DJ Pattinson, after he had amassed an innings of nine runs.
Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RR-Sarwan-c2371 was then joined by J du Toit and while the two looked impressive and challenging the bowlers, they failed to get their team to a comfortable position as they partnership came to its ultimate demise with 26 runs on the board as J du Toit
was trapped in front of stumps on a sensational delivery bowled by Pattinson. The batsman found his way back to the pavilion after scoring a knock of 11 runs off 10 deliveries.
It was then time for middle-order batsman, MAG Boyce, to take guard and while he stood his own at his end, his partner Sarwan faced maximum deliveries, seeking a batting onslaught, which was prevented to him by some impressive bowling from the opposition.
Finally with a tally of 47 on the scoreboard, the batting side suffered the loss of their third wicket with Boyce perishing after scoring nine runs off 11 deliveries. He was caught and bowled by SJ Mullaney.
The fielding side hit jackpot when Mullaney pulled off another outstanding caught and bowled performance by sending Sarwan back home after the batsman scored 13 runs.
The Notts surely have their grip on the match, while Leicestershire need a strong batting performance from the remaining batsmen as they now have http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdul-Razzaq-c41623 (2) on the crease.
