James Taylor’s spectacular century on day-one of the four-day game put Leicestershire on top against Sri Lanka A, at the Grace Road, Leicester in England on Wednesday, July 20, 2011.
The hosts had a positive day, as they ended with 332 runs on the board for the loss of eight wickets. The good thing for the team was that their skipper Taylor was unbeaten on 161 until the end of the day.

Leicestershire’s first-drop, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Greg-Smith-c1508 was the next man to be dismissed in the innings. He did get a start to his innings, but was unable to make most of it. The seasoned campaigner managed just 12 runs in his short stay at the crease.
It was a good start for the Sri Lankan A team, but they failed to carry onto the momentum after picking up a couple of quick wickets.
Taylor walked out in the middle to join http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Boyce-c1924 in the middle, as the team was struggling at 33/2. However, the pair batted brilliantly and took the game away from the opposition with a superb century partnership.
They put together 106 runs for the third wicket partnership, guiding the team’s total to 139. Boyce missed out on a half-century and was sent back to the pavilion after adding 43 runs to the total. He played steadily, facing 115 balls in his outing, but
was unable to make a significant impression.

The visitors would have been disappointed after conceding 332 runs in the day. Kosala Kulasekara was the only bowler, who did an impressive job. He picked up four wickets in the day.
