Leigh McMillan’s The Wave, Muscat edges past Luna Rossa to lead: 2011 Extreme Sailing Series Act 5
Leigh McMillan skippered Extreme 40 yacht The Wave, Muscat has finally grabbed the overall lead after nudging Paul Campbell-James’ Luna Rossa down at number three. McMillan and crew members Kyle Langford, Nick Hutton and Khamis Al Anbouri sailed tremendously
on Day 4 of 2011 Extreme Sailing Series Act 5 at Cowes to lead the standings with 118 points.
The weather conditions were a bit lighter on the fourth day, as the breeze gusted from six to eight knots over the race course. Day 4 started with one-on-one speed duels round and after that, all 11 teams raced as one fleet for the first time in the event
since Day 1.
Campbell-James’ Luna Rossa successfully led the overall standings of the event for three days but The Wave, Muscat’s consistent sail on Day 4 under ideal racing conditions brought them within 4 points of Luna Rossa. Despite the crash with Artemis Racing
