Lemon Balm - as a suppliment for tiredness and low mood...any one tried this?

I've been trying to find different ways of coping with symptoms of Fibromyalgia for the last few years. I seem to have a constant, reoccurring battle with the exhaustion, muscle weakness and low mood that usually accompanies a flare up. When I have more energy and feel happier, I can cope with the pain so much better.

I already find that green tea and St Johns Wort take the edge off most of the time, but I've read that Lemon Balm can have a very welcome, immediate effect on energy levels and mood.

Has anyone tried this supplement? I'd love to know a bit more about it from someone who's either had experiences of it or has a good insight into herbal remedies.

  1. Lemon Balm is actually a great relaxant both for the mind and the body. Most people take it to calm down from the day and/or help them fall asleep. I haven't heard of anyone getting energy from it unless they're referring to the next day (after a good night's sleep from Lemon Balm), but it can definitely help the mood with the calming.

My mom also has Fibromyalgia, and she has found a lot of benefits for energy from Ribose. She takes it in the mornings and has found that she tends to have more energy during the day. Good luck!

  2. Hi Rebbecca, I too suffer from fibromlagia, and I have to take amotryptiline at night.  I am very interested in what you have said and would love to know more about lemon balm.  i would be grateful if you could e-mail me on this subject.
