Lemon Velvet a bright prospect for the final of the Coors Yorkshire Oaks
The three heats of the Coors Yorkshire Oaks were won by three different trainers, entries of two making the most impact by clocking in the least possible time. The heats were hosted by Sheffield with each of them over 500 metres. Out of the prize money of
£300, half was awarded to the winner, while the remaining got to take back home £30.
The first heat saw Lemon Velvet trained by, A. S. McPherson, getting entered as the favourite and winning the race. She broke from the first trap, and settled into an early pace right after breaking out. The three-year-old blue b***h won the race in 28.93
seconds.
Qualifying as the runner-up of the race was, Blackrose Eve.
The favourite entry for the second heat of the contest was again from the same trainer, A. S. McPherson, but this time he ended with quite a dreadful outcome as Lemon Sinead ended fifth after breaking from the sixth trap.
Demesne Sparkles who broke from the very next trap, the fifth gate, managed concluding the race in 29.67 seconds.
The white and blue b***h got crowded when racing in the first position, and defeated Stepaside Glenis, by just half-length.
The E. T. Parker trained clocked in the longest time in the three heats.
The third and final leg of the contest witnessed the favourite entry, Bansha Mo, bagging the winner’s prize money. Scarty Lad’s black b***h had drawn the third trap. The two-year-old was quick to race away from the rest of the lot, and kept glued to the
lead until the wire.
Taking the least time to make success possible was Wheres Pedro’s daughter out of, Lemon Rita, Lemon Velvet.
All the three winners of the heat have made it to the final that has the total prize money of £1,000 on Tuesday, 13th November. Rest of the finalists include, Stepaside Glenis, Demesne Sparkles, Blackrose Mia and Blackrose Eve.
There is hardly a doubt that Lemon Velvet will be entered as the favourite having clocked the time that was not possible by the rest of the two winners. The outcome is not very far off.
