  1. i've never tried that....i have tried lemon pudding and vanilla pudding...but i think the cherry sounds delicious!

  2. You could add the cherry pie filling after the cake is baked.  Take the bottom layer and put icing around the outside edges and then pour and spread the filling then put the top layer on then frost the rest of the cake.  The layer of icing is very important to hold the filling in so it doesn't ooze out of the cake.

  3. Here are some ideas

    Special Filled Cake

1 Duncan Hines Lemon Cake Mix and fill between the layers with the

    following:

    1 pound ricotta cheese

2 Tbsp. chocolate bits, roughly chopped

    1/3 cup sugar

    1 Tbsp. grated orange peel

Combine and mix well the above ingredients. Use it as the filling between

the two cake layers. Of course it is too much filling, but it's universal

and keeps well. You can fill creme puff shells with it.

    Cherry Dump Cake

1 box white or yellow cake mix

1/4 pound butter or margarine -- at room

    1/2 cup nuts* -- chopped

2 cans prepared cherry pie -- filling

walnuts or pecans are best for this recipe

In a mixer blend the cake mix with the butter until it is fine and crumbly. Take out and save about 1 cup of the mixture. The remainder is pressed into the bottom of a 9x14" baking pan.

Bake at 350* for about 15 minutes, or until lightly brown. Pour the cherry pie filling over the hot baked crust. Mix the chopped nuts to the remaining cake mix mixture, and sprinkle over the pie filling. Return to the oven for about 30-40 minutes, or until the mix mixture is lightly browned.

Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Variations: Use chocolate cake mix and use apple pie filling, or chocolate cake mix and cherry pie filling--use your imaginations.

    Double Lemon Twist Cake

1 box lemon cake mix (18.25 oz)

    12 oz. whipped topping

14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk

    6 oz. frozen lemonade concentrate

Prepare and bake cake mix according to package directions, using a

9x13 pan. Cool completely. Mixed thawed whipped topping with

sweetened condensed milk. Add lemonade concentrate and blend well.

Pour over cooled cake. Cover and refrigerate until serving time.
