Lemon tree leaves whats wrong with them?

i just noticed that under the leaves of my lemon tree

theres this weird white stuff on it and it attracts ants

what could that be? why is it there under my leaves?

  2. Mealybugs, or scale. The ants are farming them.

    You can spray them direct, either with insecticidal soap or malathion, but this is not the permanent solution, because the ants will bring more back.  Put sticky traps on your tree trunk(s) so the ants can't protect them, or you can put diazinon (a poison) on the ground to outright kill the ants.  

    Once the ants are gone, the mealybugs or scale should gradually get eaten by finches and wasps without any more effort on your part.

Chances are that the ants are attracted to the white things because the white things are bugs producing honeydew.  White flies or aphids or whooly scale are most likely the culprit.  Treat you lemon tree with a systemic treatment product like Bayer tree and shrub.  You should see positive results in a few weeks.  If not a horticultural oil can be applied.
