Lemons... Can it contract Listeria?

I'm 20 weeks pregnant and I'm just curious I've been eating lemons like non-stop and never thought about listeria w/lemons... I never really washed the outside of the lemons... I will now that I think about it, but they say that listeria can show up weeks or months later... is it really such a risk? Like I never heard about it before so it can't be that common..... I know it sounds paranoid but I'm just curious!

  1. I don't think lemons are a major concern with listeria.  You'll be fine. Stay away from soft cheeses, deli meats, etc.

  2. Listeria is not associated with fruit. Even if it were, you would have to be eating the rind to contract it, and I doubt you are doing that.

Avoid hot dogs and lunchmeat- those are two of the biggest sources of listeria.
