Lendl Simmons, the West Indian opener, is geared up to make a comeback to international cricket and claimed that he is fit once again to play at the highest level.
The right-handed batsman injured his finger during a domestic match earlier this year and since then he has been out of international cricket. The stylish stroke-player is hopeful of returning to the West Indian team for the upcoming limited-overs series
in England.
The 27-year-old cricketer from Trinidad & Tobago has been an integral part of the Caribbean team since the last one year and has been performing brilliantly, especially in limited-overs cricket. Most cricket analysts in the Caribbean are predicting a very
bright future for the right-handed top-order batsman. The most important feature of Simmons’ batting is his ability to take the attack to the bowlers.
The West Indian team is currently in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, where it will take part in three Test matches, as many One Day Internationals and a T20 fixture. The first Test is scheduled to commence from May 17th, at Lords.
Simmons expressed that he is all set to return to international cricket and hopes that the selectors pick him for the series against England as he has been consistently doing well in the last 14 months. The batsman understands that he needs to keep improving
in order to make a name for himself at the highest level of the sport.
"I see no reason to be left out the English series. I'm making some big scores once again and I think I have done a lot to deserve selection. I just want to keep playing to the best of my ability and move from strength to strength. As a cricketer, I want
to do my best representing my club, country and the region," Simmons expressed.
The right-hander further added that he is happy to be playing cricket once again and said that he is in sublime form right now.
He added, “It's good to be fit and back to form once again. I was elated with my 127 against Wanderers recently because I want runs under my belt to make the One-Dayers and T20s in England."
