Length of the contract remains to be the problem between Adam LaRoche and Washington Nationals
The Washington Nationals and first baseman Adam LaRoche are still seeking a mutual understanding on contract of the length. Both sides have agreed to a new deal but length of the contract is still to be determined.
Washington Nationals’ manager Davey Johnson said and explained in the media with great detail, "I really won't sleep comfortably until he [signs]. I hope that gets worked out. I told [Adam], 'You don't want to go where you are miserable. You know you are going to have a good time in D.C. I won't platoon you.' We'll see. ... That would put the icing on the cake."
First baseman Adam LaRoche last played for the Nationals and later in offseason filed for free agency. He played well and showed good commitment during the entire 2012 Major League Baseball season. He impressed the entire Nationals roster and earned appreciation from many.
He went hitting at .271 along with 33 home runs, 100 RBIs and .343 OBP. Overall he also possesses good career stats of .268 hitting average along with 197 home runs, 684 RBIs and .338 OBP.
The Washington Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo is also looking optimistic that LaRoche will agree to a new deal along with all other complex contract aspects.
The Washington Nationals team management is also wishes for a new offensive strategy in the roster. Recently their manager Johnson has spoken to some reporters and explained them some facts about the franchise.
“It's a great subject to second guess on, I mean, I'm mentally worn out seeing it all the time myself, It has its toll not only on Stephen, but on the rest of the guys on the club, It's a distraction," the manager said. Johnson said, on the behalf of some facts about the Nationals’ few former players and their comments which produced many presumptions on the future of the franchise.
The next few weeks will be critical when both the Nationals and LaRoche will decide on length of the contract. However, experts believe that LaRoche will be playing for the Nationals again.
