Lenka Juríková surmounts Nastja Kolar in 1st round – Slovak Open 2011
Slovakian Lenka Juríková overpowered Slovenian Nastja Kolar in the first round of the Slovak Open 2011.
The two challengers had clashed against each other on indoor hard courts of the Národné Tenisové Centrum in Bratislava, Slovakia and it took the Home-girl (Juríková) simply one hour and seventeen minutes to triumph over the Slovenian, Kolar by thumping her in straight sets of 6-4, 6-2 on Tuesday the 15th of November 2011.
Albeit, both the sets were governed by Juríková, the first set was a tad difficult and it was with only three more total points won in the set that the Slovakian, Juríková had managed to clog the set with. In addition, the Slovakian also was able to save 86 percent of her breakpoints and instead had managed to capitalize on 50 percent of breakpoints won in the initial round.
Although, both the players had double faulted twice on their respective serves, Juríková was able to smash three consecutive aces to bag the opening game. She then capitalized on a break to square off two successive games and take a mini lead at the end of the second game. However, Kolar was not to be left behind and she too made a return by breaking back and then with a hold of serve to equalize the score at two games each.
Subsequently in the following four games, the players matched an eye for an eye and the score kept tied at three games each and then finally at four games each by the end of the eighth game. During the last two games, the Slovakian hit a pot of gold as she capitalized from break point in the ninth game and as she served for the last time, she smashed a marvellous forehand winner to secure the opening set with a deftly 6-4 victory.
The second set was a much easier feat to conquer as Kolar had given up and did not even try to put any effort! Nonetheless, the second round was initiated by the Slovenian and this time both the players were able to hold their respective serves to ease themselves on to the scoreboard at 1-1. In the next two games, each player bagged a game each and the score had tied at two games each.
However, with a hold of serve in the fifth game and then by breaking immediately in the following game, Juríková had scooped two successive games and in doing so; she took the lead by the end of the sixth game. As she repeated the feat, she sealed her victory of the match and secured a place in the second round of the tournament.
