Lennox Lewis believes Dereck Chisora needs anger management therapy – Boxing News
Former undisputed world champion Lennox Lewis believes Dereck Chisora should consider anger management therapy as recommended by the BBBC (British Board of Boxing Control). According to Lennox Lewis, Haye and Chisora’s match will be bad news for the boxing
world.
Lennox Lewis also came up saying that the British Board of Boxing Control’s decision of cancelling Chisora’s license was correct and that Chisora should get on the right track. Lewis said, “We are going through a disciplinary process right now and the British
Boxing Board of Control is handling that. Should they be allowed to fight? Sure - but only when the time is right, when the disciplinary process has run its course. Chisora did a couple of bad things which, in football terms, brought the game into disrepute,
and although he has apologised, that is not enough. Maybe he needs anger management therapy, some outside help, to draw a line under what happened in Germany.”
Supporting the board’s decision, Lewis said that everyone knows the board is there for a reason and that they cancelled Chisora’s license in ‘good faith’. Lewis added that saying the board’s judgement is incorrect is an irrelevant statement Furthermore,
the former champion said that since both the pugilists belonged to Britain, they should not have acted like that in Germany and should have created a good image of their country.
When asked about Chisora’s slap to Vitali at the pre-fight press conference, Lewis said that whatever Chisora did to Vitali, Wladimir and Haye was not right and he deserved punishment for it, which he got. He added that Chisora’s misbehaviour has left a
bad taste in boxing and that he is glad the BBBC took action against Chisora.
For now, the British Board of Boxing Control has warned every official in the fraternity against participating in the event, including fighters, managers and promoters. Anyone who will participate in the event will have his or her license cancelled, according
to the British Board of Boxing Control. Even after such a strict warning, many promoters have their share in the event since it has acquired public interest.
