Lennox Lewis doubts Dereck Chisora’s capabilities – Boxing news
Lennox Lewis, former Britain heavyweight champion, believes Dereck Chisora is still not ready to take on Vitali Klitschko for the WBC title. Lewis revealed his thoughts about Dereck’s capabilities last night through his Twitter.
Dereck Chisora will be facing Vitali Klitschko for the WBC title at the Olympiahalle in Munich tomorrow night. Dereck, who is 28, is fully confident that it is about time for Vitali, who is 40, to give up his belt.
However, Lennox Lewis is of a completely different view. He thinks Dereck still needs time to reach the level where he can beat Vitali.
Unusually, this time both the opponents have praised each other instead of throwing harsh comments. Vitali Klitschko, in his recent public appearance, spoke highly of Dereck Chisora and his fighting skills. Vitali went on to say he expects Chisora to put
up a tough fight even though he has lost 2 of his last 3 fights.
Nevertheless, former undisputed champion Lewis is unsure whether Chisora can defeat Vitali or not. In fact, he went on to say that he cannot believe why Chisora has been giving the opportunity when he is still not ready. Lennox Lewis retired in 2004 and
he is 46 right now. Rumours of Lewis making his ring return soon were in the air but no confirmation has been made from Lewis’ side on this issue.
Lennox Lewis conveyed his views through his Twitter account saying, “Chisora-Klitschko is 4 all intensive purposes sic a mismatch. In my era, u couldn’t have a WORLD title fight 17 fights n2 ur career. £TooGreen. He’s still too green for the Klitschkos...”
Lennox Lewis was highly praised was his performance against Mike Tyson in 2008, when he knocked out Iron Mike in the 8th round. The fight was considered to be a disappointing one since Tyson didn’t seem in his best form giving Lewis the opportunity to walk
with victory smoothly. Lewis has faced world class fighters like Tyson and Holyfield engraving his name among the best in the world of boxing. As of now, he is enjoying his days of retirement in peace but he makes sure to keep in touch with the current events
of boxing.
