In my opinion all sportsmen get better as time goes on.Through science diet etc runners get fasters & so on. This must also apply to boxing. I constantly read questions comparing modern boxers to old so if my theory is correct lewis would kick his **** & so would all modern boxers compared to champs in an older era anyone else agree ?

  1. I agree with the concept of athlete's (in general) getting better as science gets better. That obviously is a factor with football & baseball. (not even factoring in steriods & HGH). Boxing is a little different. Bulk doesnt' necessarily mean better and Lewis certainly wasn't faster than Ali.

Boxers years ago made less money per bout. So they fought more often. Therefore they trained more often. Sugar Ray Robinson had over 200 fights, Ali had 61 and missed 3 years of his career due to his draft status. Ask yourself a question, are you better at something ,if you do it more often?

Another thing to consider, Foreman was 20 years removed from his original title reign when he recaptured the title 20 years after his prime. Now if the athletes or boxers were so physically superior now, how would it be possible that big George could even compete against todays fighters? Let alone recapture the title?

As for your proposed fight. Thumbs up to toughguy! And really watch that video clip of Ali vs Cleveland Williams or anything of Ali in the mid 60's.

I think Lennox was a top ten all time heavy, but I think Ali was at least top 2!  Ali (pre layoff) by Dec maybe all 15 rounds.

  2. Lenox Lewis obviously seeing as Ali is dead. But the thing is Lenox Lewis has access to state of the art equipment and still doesn't look as good as Ali so imagine Ali in todays world.

  3. ali to win.

  4. Lennox Lewis

  5. I do not believe Lewis could have kept up with Ali.  Yes he did have a size and reach advantage, but I believe Ali's speed and style would have caused problems for Lewis.  Lewis jab and jab to set up the left hook.  I think that would have been to easy for Ali to figure out.  Plus Lewis' chin is suspect.  Ali would have gotten around the stiff arm defense of Lewis and connected.

If Ali was on a mission, he would knock him out in the middle rounds.  If Ali wanted to put on a show, then is would have went the distance with Ali winning a decision.

  6. I agree lewis would win. when you compare different generations usually the younger ones would always win. think jordan vs ric barry in basketball. Ali is one of the greatest fighters of all time, but ALI was beatable. he didn't have a perfect record and he took hard shots even when he was in his prime. im not knocking him but that is the truth. lewis would be a bigger, stronger, faster, more conditioned, more technical version of George foreman.

  7. In my opinion Lennox Lewis wins this match at least 8 out of 10 times.

Ali, in his career, has never faced an opponent who was as skilled and technical as Lewis with the same amount of power and adapting ability in the ring. Some people may perhaps put Foreman as a counter argument here. George did have as much power as Lennox (maybe even a little more) and Ali was able to win the strategic battle, but with a fighter of Lewis' talent, ring intelligence, and tactical abilities he would have another thing coming. Ali would win some rounds I have no doubt, but overall, I think that Lennox would be able to use the jab effectively to keep him in control for the most part of the match and land a good amount of crushing right hooks and some uppercuts on the inside which would really hurt him. Ali's granite chin and his indomitable fighting spirit would probably be enough to get him to the final bell, but he would take a real battering here non the less and loose this match by a clear unanimous decision. I see Lennox winning by at least 4 of 5 point margin in this tactical, but very entertaining matchup.

  8. Ali hands down!

if your talking the two at the time of there best, Lewis wouldn't even have a chance. In fact if you throw lewis into the very early 1970's, he probably wouldn't have been ranked in the top 5, so he would have been an Ali warm up fight, or an in-between real title fights, like a Joe Frazier, or Kenny Norton.

(and Ali was faster in the mid 60's, just not sure if he was as strong then, but definetly faster) first link watch the hands closely , you might miss them.

Better question might be would ali's face get any bruises or the next day would you be able to tell if ali was in a fight.?

  9. To say Lennox wouldnt have been in the top five in the early 70s is ridiculous as he would have thrashed guys like Oscar Bonavena, Jerry Quarry, Ron Lyle, etc.  A prime Ali however was big enough and strong enough to outbox Lennox. A prime Ali was the quickest heavyweight ever (aside from perhaps Roy Jones Jr who fought only once at the weight). I don't think Ali would have won 11-12 rounds LOL but I believe he was fast enough and good enough to win a convincing 12 round decision and I am Lennox's number one fan.  I also believe that Lennox was one of the best champions ever.  He exhibited class, most of the time gave the fan their money's worth, and beat every man he ever faced as a professional.  Ali can't say that.

  10. Ali would of beaten lewis in ali's day when he was at his best,Ali is one of the best fighters that ever was.

  11. Hey Ribafish Stick To The Soviets Dude.  What R U Smoking Mr. Low IQ.  Peddle Your Soviet Opinion Somewhere Else.  Lewis Would Lose.  He Has No Speed Comparable To Ali

  12. Look at some old youtube clips of Ali vs Cleveland Williams and tell me you think that Lewis would stand a chance.  Ali is clearly faster, has better ring skills and movement and would have made Lewis look really slow.  Ali would at his very best, would win a good 11-12 rounds of a 15 round fight.  Fighters do not necessarily get better.  They can either box or not, can either fight or not.  It's not all about the size but the heart and the skill level.

  13. Ali would win but I don't think it would be that easy because Lewis was a cautious 6'5" Fighter who could really punch and he had boxing evolution on his side. Ali didn't fight a lot of guys who had a height and reach advantage and who fought tall. I think Ali was still a faster and better boxer than Lennox Lewis and for sure had a better chance and if Ali got behind he would take chances to win the fight.

  14. i don't agree i think ali would win because he was one of the greatest

  15. hands down, Ali. He was a boxing genius!

  16. Lennox would kick his *** as Ali is not well at the moment.............

Seriously, I agree, Lennox would win through fitness and strength

  17. I was going to stay away from this one, I think that any reasonable boxing fan would know the answer to this one. There's something about this question that kept calling me back. I really don't know if was my total disgust for Lennox or my adoration for Ali.

In their primes, Ali before his suspension and Lennox, well Lennox never really had a prime. Who did he fight? We all know who Muhammad fought and beat and lost to, but seriously Lennox didn't even belong in the ring with anyone Ali fought. It was a totally different time for the Heavyweights in the late sixties and early seventies. The top ten guys were surely the TOP TEN, not like the easy pickings Lennox had, now this is not his fault, he just fought the bums that were thrown to him, but to place in the ring with a legend such as Ali, there would be no match.

Lennox had a decent jab, we never saw him fight a guy with a better one. Ali's jab was precise and quick and came from all angles. Lennox held his head high and often stepped out of the box with his chin sticking right up there for anyone to poke. Ali would glide on his feet turn his head (roll) with the punch and counter effectively. Lennox had "No Jaw". Ali was all jaw. I would go so far as to give my opinion that even when Ali looked his worse against a young Larry Holmes, he would have beaten Lewis. Don't shrug the thought, im my opinion, it could have happened. Frazier, Shavers, Liston, Patterson, Foreman and even Norton would have cleaned the ring up with Lennox. Ali in his prime or ten years past would retire Lewis.

I know that it must take you sometime to come up with these questions. I had a hard enough time just thinking to ask the question "What if Pac-man vs Marquez was 15 rounds" I would like to tell you that I and most of the true boxing fans here appreciate you taking the time out to ask the who vs who questions, it isn't easy, I know.

  18. Ali, he's tougher, takes a better shot, and is not as cautious as Lennox tends to get.He takes in a late round stoppage or decision. That's the prime Ali, however.

  19. Ali is to fast on his feet and his hands as well as being to strong for lennox

  20. Athletes do progress with time, that is obvious, but boxing isn't track and field, and there also hasn't been that much time between Ali and Lewis, both are considered "modern" heavyweights, 6 feet and above, 210+.

Ali would dominate him, probably KO him in the middle to late rounds.  The notion that Lewis size would be too big an advantage should remember he couldn't take out Holyfield who was smaller than Ali, and not nearly as skilled.

Lewis size would be a disadvantage against Ali, he would have to chase him around and eat jabs and right hands - he would be completely gassed, and Ali would catch him, on his shaky chin, and put him out in the 8th or 9th round.

  21. lewis to win by knockout 3rd round

  22. ALI  would have been too clever, Ali was THE  Greatest Boxer of all time
