Lenson Teddy’s victory only upset in 1st round of williamhill.com Springbok
The opening round of williamhill.com Springbok produced no upset except Lenson Teddy’s victory in the sixth heat at Wimbledon on Saturday night, February 18.
The first five heats of the 480m championship were dominated by the favourites, however, it was an event full of drama.
The first heat saw Westmead Melanie flying to victory in 29.69 seconds. Despite being crowded early on, the 4/11 favourite kept her speed to outclass the rest of the pack.
Forest Legend created a few problems but N. Savva’s trainee was good enough to tackle them.
In the second heat, Razldazl Zamba unleashed her enormous talent to seal an emphatic win by 5 ½ lengths.
It was a comfortable trip for R. Holloway’s dog – a veteran hound with the highest odds of 5 to 4.
Catunda Ramos, who was the least favourite contender, managed to grab second place in the list.
The third heat was also full of excitement, as Cabra Legend displayed a dominating show.
After attaining a decent lead at the second bend, the white and fawn dog sustained his advantage all the way through.
By reaching the post in 29.46 seconds, the 8-11 favourite outsmarted Siege Of Venice by a staggering six lengths.
Crofter exhibited a splendid performance in the fourth heat of williamhill.com Springbok.
The black dog kicked off the party from the fifth stall, carrying the highest winning chances of 11 to 8. Nobody was able to match his speed, as P. Donovan’s trainee led the proceedings from pillar to post.
As a result of his brilliant run, a comprehensive 7 ¼ lengths triumph alongside a cash prize of £100 went to Crash’s son out of Lizzies Best.
The fifth race was won by Any Questions, trained by J. Foster. Courtesy of his quick pace early on, the blue dog achieved a reasonable lead that he sustained till the finish.
He made it to the winning post in 29.28 seconds, beating Swift Attack by three and a quarter lengths.
The last heat produced a shocking result, as Lenson Teddy outperformed Legal Rebel by 2 ½ lengths.
E. McNair’s trainee was holding the highest winning probability of 5/4, but Lenson Teddy defeated him convincingly.
The champion completed his run in just 29.77, earning a classy victory for A. Collett.
