Leon Camier of Aprilia Alitalia says he faces same issues at every race of the season – WSBK news
Aprilia Alitalia Racing Team rider Leon Camier says he faces same issues at every race of the ongoing 2011 World Superbike Championship.
The Brit seems to be unhappy with his Aprilia RSV4.
The British WSBK rider is in search of a quick solution to his problem. He has been hampered due to the grip issues and has not been able to challenge the top riders in the class.
Camier said, “We just seem to have the same problems wherever we go. In the second race at Silverstone, I had no grip from very early on so people could just roll past. I made a mistake that let Max through but there were no team’s orders, I just messed
it up.”
Presently, the British rider ranks at sixth place on the WSBK championship points table. Camier is 12 points adrift of his compatriot, Leon Haslam at fifth place. Haslam runs for the BMW factory team in the WSBK.
Camier further said, “We had really bad chatter on Friday which we sort of fixed by turning the engine braking right down. I qualified well but then a fly-by-wire sensor broke in race one when I was hauling Eugene in for second by about six-tenths per lap.
I would love to know what's going wrong but no-one seems to be able to tell me.”
He claimed that during the last weekend at Silverstone he was facing chatter problem at the rear end. The issue was sorted with decreasing the engine brakes. The tuning resulted in a good qualifying position for the race day. However, he was 15th
in race one and with a strong effort he claimed the 5th position in race two at Silverstone.
His opinion about the RSV4 is that it is very responsive to older tarmac. The performance seems to drop on a worn out asphalt layer as it loses grip. He also added that sometimes it feels that he lacks the confidence on such a surface.
Still hoping for solution he is looking forward to race at Imola, Italy where he anticipates to have the feel same as at San Marino.
