The midfielder felt that even though their training sessions in Austria were a good preparatory exercise, it was important that the Toffees got a taste of competitive football before the new season kicks off.
Osman is reported to have said, “The running is important but to play the games and have matches, competitive ones, is what we all want and what we're all striving to get to.”

During his lengthy stay at Goodison Park, which now stretches over a period of almost ten years, he has made 303 appearances and scored 42 goals.
With the player now starting to suffer from the effects of old age, he admitted that he found it difficult to keep up during the drills unlike in the past. Nevertheless, he mentioned that he enjoyed playing football after completing all the running and other
warm up exercises.

The midfielder added, “It's been very tough to get up and before your body has really got used to being awake you're already doing a run or a bike. So it can be difficult, but its part of getting fit both physically and mentally.”
