Leonard Ellerbe reveals Floyd Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao is in the making – Boxing news
The chief of Mayweather Promotions, Leonard Ellerbe, has made a staggering revelation in which he said Team Mayweather is now trying to set up a super-fight with the eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World
Champion (Super Champion), Manny Pacquiao.
Ellerbe said that finally people will see what they desperately want to see for the past many years.
“Now hopefully the fans will finally get what they want to see. Team Mayweather is looking to make the biggest fight possible and everyone knows what that fight is. It's very pleasing to know that Manny Pacquiao has agreed to be subjected to the USADA random
blood and urine tests,” Mayweather Promotions chief Leonard Ellerbe told Fighthype.com
Floyd Mayweather, who is a five-division world champion and the World Boxing Council World Welterweight Champion, wanted Pacquiao to agree for Olympic-style blood testing which the Filipino star did not want to do, as he believed giving blood so close to
the fight will affect his stamina. However, now Pacquiao has agreed with Mayweather’s terms.
In the end, Ellerbe stated Floyd’s previous opponents like Shane Mosley and Victor Ortiz also did Olympic-style drug testing. Ellerbe also thanked Pacquiao for agreeing to the terms.
“It's great to hear that they are now ready to take the same USADA random blood and urine tests that Floyd, Shane Mosley, and Victor Ortiz have already taken. This is great for the sport of boxing and I commend Manny Pacquiao for stepping up to the plate,”
Ellerbe added.
Pacquiao, who is a winner of 53 of his 58 professional fights (2 Draws), with 38 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is currently rated as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
However, this spot was previously held by the undefeated American legend, Mayweather, who holds an incredible record of winning all of his 42 professional bouts, with 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout. Therefore, their fight will certainly have
all the hallmarks of being an absolute classic, as it will decide who the real pound-for-pound king is.
