Leonardo backs Antoine Kombouare after second Ligue 1 defeat – Ligue 1 news
Paris Saint-Germain were inflicted their second Ligue 1 defeat of the season when the Parisians lost at home to lowly Nancy Lorraine 1-0. A beauty by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jean-c18112 Calve was enough to give Jean Fernandez much needed 3 points at the expense of PSG.
The defeat means that Antoine Kombouare is under even more pressure than before. A few weeks back, the Kanak coach was rumoured to be on the verge of getting the boot but thanks to Carlo Ancelotti’s refusal to join PSG, the former Valenciennes man was given
another chance to put things right against Nancy at the Parc des Princes.
After Montpellier defeated Marseille 1-0 at home, it was all up to PSG to win the game in order to maintain their 3-point lead.
The game against Nancy was an important one especially as a win over the side would have been PSG’s 600th win in Ligue 1. Furthermore, PSG are just two goals short of making it 2000 Ligue 1 goals. However, this was not to be and the cash-laden
side from the Ile province will now have to wait a little while longer to achieve an important landmark in the club’s history.
Despite their second Ligue 1 defeat of the season, PSG sporting director Leonardo has come rushing forward to the defence of Kombouare and has given the Frenchman his full backing.
Leonardo reportedly met with former AC Milan and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 player
refused and Kombouare was given a lifeline.
However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-c22056 has apparently given his under-fire coach his full support despite rumours in many quarters of Paris suggesting that the Brazilian is still looking for high profile coach to replace Kombouare.
While talking to Canal Plus, the former AC Milan manager said, “The agitation that there has been around the club recently didn’t perturb the team and for us nothing has changed. We have total confidence in Antoine Kombouare, and we continue to have that,
even if there are things to be improved.”
PSG now face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 in week 15 of the Ligue 1 action and Kombouare would certainly be looking to successfully set things right when his side faces another side that hasn’t made a dream start to the new season.
