Leong Yie Jie topples Liew Jooe Yin to bag Girls Singles U-9 title in Tertutup Remaja Perlis 2011
Malaysia’s Leong Yie Jie has grabbed Girls Singles Under-9 title after registering an impressive victory over Liew Jooe Yin in the title match of the Tertutup Remaja Perlis 2011, in Malaysia, on Friday, December 30.
Leong Yie, who was the top seed in Girls Singles draw of the tournament, has made her presence felt by playing to her full potential and thrashed her opponent in the title match in just 15 minutes. She crushed Liew Jooe in straight games without showing
even a little mercy.
It was a completely one-sided final contest as Liew Jooe did not put up strong resistance in the whole match and lost it without making her mark.
Right from the opening rallies of the first game, Leong Yie established her domination in the game as she played at her best. Her incredible speed was just uncontrollable for Liew Jooe, who failed to rake the bird early.
Leong Yie remained ahead of her challenger by playing positive badminton in the opening half and set up a comfortable lead.
After the break, she continued her positive game and impressed the home fans. Liew Jooe tried her best to control the bird and take it early but failed to return it in the right areas. She was quite helpless against the attacking play of her higher ranked
rival.
The top seed Leong Yie was quite composed in the whole first game and ended it up in a smashing fashion with a one-sided 21-10 score on the board.
In the second game, Leong Yie again took an early lead by playing on a completely different level. Her opponent failed to play positive game in the first half of the set and remained trailing. Leong Yie remained on track and played with precision and built
a comfortable gap.
She continued her positive run in the second half of the set and finished it with a remarkable difference of 21-9. With this superb performance, Leong Yie proved that she has the skills which are required to become top class shuttler.
The final score of this Girls Singles straight-set final showdown was 21-10 and 21-9.
