Leonid Slutsky hails CSKA Moscow performance against Anzhi Makhachkala: Russian Premier League news
In the latest round of Russian Premier League action, CSKA Moscow thrashed Anzhi Makhachkala 5-3 at Khazar stadium.
Leonid Slutsky, the Koni manager, has hailed his side after the mouth-watering clash and appreciated the commitment of the players.
The visitors were successfully pressurised by the home side into conceding an early goal, but the Army-Men came back strongly and netted five goals in response. The Wild-Division managed to score two late consolation goals.
The Armeytsy are currently at the second spot on the league table and trail the league leaders, Zenit St. Petersburg, by two points. Slutsky revealed that a win was very much important at this stage of the season because the Moscow-based club are still trying
to close the gap from the top.
Speaking on the match performance, he said:
“The match started very hard for us, Anzhi managed to score the opening goal and they could have scored more. On the other hand, we kept our head high and played according to the plan.”
The Russian Cup winner revealed that Anzhi missed some chances in the opening minutes of the match and admitted that had the opponents converted all their chances, CSKA would have been in deep trouble.

“I think that with such sharp forwards, as Love and Doumbia, the defence should not be relaxed.”
Doumbia managed to score a brace before halftime and Love added another goal to his tally in the second period. The former FC Moscow boss went on to praise the offensive work of his team and expressed his satisfaction on attacking instinct of the team.
Speaking on his decision to replace Semyon Fedotov in the first half, Slutsky revealed that it was a tactical change and the move paid huge dividends.
