  1. id recommend have a look at a reptile forum. i have a  bearded dragon dont know too much about geckos. better to get advice from people who know alot about it than burn your lizard

or just google geck or reptile forum

  2. Yeah leave it on all the time. It would help if you got a rheostat that way you can adjust the heating pad as needed to get the correct temperature.  One point I wanted to clarify is that the heating pad should cover 20-30% of the tank.  If it covers half then you're pretty much heating the entire tank. The tank needs to be divided into ends, not halves.  If you buy a pad buy one that's suited for your size tank.  Also, geckos really need a pad as opposed to a lamp.  They use the heat from the ground to warm up their bellies so they can digest their food.  Lamps will heat up the bottom, but pads do it much more effectively; any halfway decent care sheet will tell you to use a heating pad.

Best advice:  Search the internet.  There are many sites out there with care sheets and info; read all of them.  Get as much info as you can.  Don't rely on just one source, get a well rounded knowledge.  I still peruse different sites to find new tips and info on caring for my leo.

  3. Normally I have mine on 24/7 but its around 100 outside the past few days so I have unplugged mine today. The temp in the tank was around 85.

  4. hay first of all leopard geckos are grate i have 2  yes you do have to leave the heat pad on all the time u need to have a constant heat source for them to regulate their body temperature to properly digest their food and make shur the heat pad only covers half of the tank so that if the gecko gets to hot it can cool down and always keep the water on the cool half of the tank and also its good to hav a thermomiter to make shur the temp is corect hears a link 2 a good care sheet  http://www.thegeckospot.com/shortleocare...

hope this helps and if theirs anything Elce you need 2 to no please dont hesitate to ask good luck xxxxxxx

  5. yea it should be ok in the winter but just monitor it in the summer

  6. i have 2 leopard geckos and we leave the heat mat on 24/7 so it is k to leave it on.

  7. i have two and i would strongly reccoment having a overhead light rather than i heat pad. they need the overhead heat. but i have a lamp on 12 hours a day then over half of the tank i put a heat pad for at night.
