Do I have the keep the lamp on at night? My gecko also has a heating pad, but he also has a lamp that sits on the top of the tank. Thanks!

  1. Leos don't need lights at all.  They are nocturnal, so they hide in the dark all day and come out at night.  The UTH pad is all you need but it does need to be regulated with a dimmer switch or thermostat.  Surface temps should be between 88-91F for proper digestion.  Definitely do not leave lights on at night.

  2. turn off the lamp at night like around 8pm if you can but its fine if you do it earlier or later.

  3. lamp at night...no

    pad at night...yes

  4. A heating pad is enough for all  its heating requirements. Leo's are naturally nocturnal, so he doesnt need the light, and really only needs the belly heat. Even if you choose to continue using the lamp, it doesnt need to be on at night.
