I have a female leopard gecko who is about 6 months old, and was once with other geckos, but is now alone, and was wondering if I could put another female of the same age and size in with her?

and what would I need to do to her cage to get it ready for a gecko roommate?

Thank you!!

  1. I've read almost everywhere that it is ok to put as many females in a cage as you want together, even 1 male is ok to add, but never NEVER put two males in a tank together. And your tank size is a good size to do that in. Hope that helped.

  2. you shouldn't as they are naturally solitary. Pet stores house them together to save space.

Females like males may vie for dominance. There is also something known as a hot female. When you hatch leos the hotter the eggs are the more likely you will get males. I don't know the temps. I don't breed them. Sometimes in the hot batches you will get females. Most of them are normal females some are hot. They developed as females but act like males. They will fight. Even normal females will fight for dominance sometimes.
